Author: Dave and the Beat- Gonzo Troppo Music
As a child of the 60's I grew up with the most exciting music the world has ever known. The global impact of Rock and Roll that was created from the marriage of the American blues, American gospel, American country and western and American Jazz all driven by rhythms passed down from all over the world. These musical influences came from the roots music created by the oppressed workers of the rural south, mostly African slaves who needed to sing and dance as a way to be able to deal with their torturous existence. They often combined the new found spiritual music that they were learning in the "master's" churches with with the beats and rhythms of their ancestral lands. Their songs dealt with sadness but also perseverance. At the same time, many of the European immigrants who came to the south were singing their own style of music, mostly mountain or bluegrass and reflected strongly with the stringed instruments that they brought from their lands and using anything they could pound on to get a beat. All of this was often referred to as Devil's Music. With that we toast our ancestors for letting their spirits fly through their music and to those who took that music of the soul and honed it with a great and constantly developing talent and mastery that has been a gift to all of modern humanity.
I am happy to offer my DJ services for any event that wants this great body of music to contribute to the entertainment. asummerdaze@gmail.com
